April is sexual assault awareness month and this week I will be talking about this very important topic with my special guest Audace Garnett, a victims advocate and CEO and Founder of Auscension Advocacy, LLC.
Sexual assault does not stop at stranger rape, and date rape. It extends to childhood sexual abuse at the hands of family, clergy and friends. So many of us are walking around in pain. Sexual abuse happens in every community, however we in the black community refuse to talk about. We chose to sweep it under the rug not understanding the serious impact it has not only on the victim but on the community as a whole.
In order to heal, we must first address. I know this is a very heavy topic, but it is one that needs to be discussed, so tune in as Audace and I scratch the surface of this topic.
